Meet Our Doctors
Dr. Richard Douglas, OD received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. He received his Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Douglas specializes in general ophthalmic care, glaucoma management, pre and post-operative cataract care, and advanced ophthalmic care. Dr. Douglas completed externships with concentrations in diagnosis and management of ocular disease at Franklin Delanor Roosevelt Veterans Administration Hospital in Montrose, New York, Perry Point Veterans Administration Hospital in Perry Point, Maryland, and Illinois Eye Institute Center for Advanced Ophthalmic Care. In addition, Dr. Douglas also completed externships in the Illinois Eye Institute's Pediatric & Binocular Vision and Low Vision Departments with focuses on management and treatment of low vision, pediatric and binocular vision. Dr. Douglas has also participated in clinical trials for new contact lenses.

Dr. Douglas entered into private practice in 1998 in Chester, Virginia. Since 2001, Dr. Douglas also practices with a private ophthalmology group.

Dr. Kristen Jarrell, OD is a Chesterfield, Virginia native who received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia and her Doctorate of Optometry from the Indiana College of Optometry in Bloomington, Indiana. Dr. Jarrell completed an externship at Quantico Naval Health Clinic with concentrations in ocular trauma, and management of ocular disease, particularly glaucoma, diabetes, and hypertension. Dr. Jarrell completed an externship at Atwater Eye Care Center and Community Eye Care Center in Bloomington, Indiana with emphasis on specialty contact lens fitting, corneal and retinal disease, glaucoma management, binocular vision, visual information processing, vision therapy, and pediatrics. Additionally, Dr. Jarrell externed at Indianapolis Eye Care Clinic in Indianapolis, Indiana, Larue Carter Psychiatric Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana with a focus on ocular disease, low vision therapy, pediatric, and specialty contact lens patients with emphasis on Keratoconic contact lens fittings. She completed a rotation with a primary focus on diseases of the eye under vitreo-retinal, cataract, glaucoma, and corneal specialists at Muncie Eye Center, Muncie, IN.
Dr. Jarrell is a member of the Optometry Private Practice Club, Volunteering Optometrist Serving Humanity and the American Optometric Association.
